which provides cover against unforeseen accidents and
illness
- Pets must be between 8 weeks and 8
years when they join PetSure (the policy doesn’t stop when
pet reaches 8 years, cover is kept for life, provided
premiums are kept up to date)
- For pets over the age of 8 years we
can provide Accidental Injury Cover only. (Routine Care
Option is not available with this option)
- All pets must have a permanent form
of identification, either a microchip or a tattoo. This
helps to reduce risk of insurance fraud and protect all
PetSure members.
- All our policies start on the 1st
day of the month. (We do not pro-rate the first month, e.g.
If we receive an application on the 20th of the month, the
policy will start on the 1st of the next month).
- 30 days waiting period from START
date of the policy.
- We require one calendar month
notice in writing for cancellations.
- Premiums and benefits increase in
March every year.
- There are three different levels of cover: P100 / P80 / Accidental Injury:
Plan 100 - Covers UNFORESEEN Accidents and
illness
- Pays 100% of Benefit Schedule rate
less excess of R 85 or 15% of benefit, whichever the greater

Plan 80 - Covers UNFORESEEN Accidents and
illness
- Pays 80% of Benefit Schedule rate
less excess of R 85 or 15% of benefit, whichever the greater

Accidental Injury Cover only - Covers Accidents only
- Pays 100% of Benefit Schedule rate
less excess of R 85 or 15% of benefit, whichever is the
greater.
- Has limit pet accident of R

Exclusions and limitations - Pre-existing conditions
- Conditions that started in the
first 30 days form the start date of the policy (waiting
period)
- Preventable diseases (e.g. Catflu,
worms)
- Breeding related conditions
(Caesarean section, whether emergency or elective)
- Periodontal disease
- Internal and External parasites
(worms, flea allergy dermatitis, etc)
- Hereditary and Congenital
Conditions (PetSure will send a letter to the attending
veterinarian, requesting more information on this
patient’s condition)
- Routine Care procedures (If the Add on policy for Routine Care was not selected)
Over and above the insurance against the pet’s unforeseen accidents and illness, we also offer the following: Routine Care Option (Add on policy) - Can be added to Plan 100 and Plan
80
- Provides additional benefit for
Routine Care procedures like: vaccinations, deworming, flea
control, procedure only of dental scaling (These are not
covered by the core plans)
- Benefit of R 250 towards
sterilisation, subject to 6 months active membership prior to procedure being carried out, and provided claim was submitted within 60 days of
procedure. The sterilisation benefit is subject to therebeing benefit available in Routine Care Option
and client is an active member.

Benefits for all the products above
are reimbursed according to the PetSure Benefit Schedule
which is based on the South African Veterinary Council’s
Guideline of fees for veterinary practitioners. Emergency Boarding & Kennelling PetSure will pay for essential boarding kennel or cattery fees for each insured pet, up to a maximum of R50.00 per day (including VAT) limited to an annual maximum of R697.00 (including VAT) for PLAN 100 and R488.00 (including VAT) for PLAN 80 and Accidental Injury Cover, incurred as a result of the Owner being hospitalised for a period of not less than 4 (four) days, resulting from an accident or illness occurring during the period of insurance, but excluding pregnancy and cosmetic surgery, provided that any such illness is not known or foreseeable prior to the commencement of insurance. Free lost and found service The Pet Detective Lifetime Lost & Found Tag is a visible means of Identification with a difference. The lightweight durable tag requires no engraving. Each tag contains a unique security code and contact telephone number to call when your pet is found. The tag can be activated on the PetSure website by going to the "Pet Detective” page on completing a form or by downloading a form to complete and fax it back to 086 661 0990. The Pet Detective hotline is available for lost and found pets from 8 am to 11 pm seven days a week, including public holidays.
